Food quality has deteriorated in the last few months & the answer you get when you tell them what was wrong is 'I don't know'. Wo t be going back. It is sad because it was our favorite for a long time.

This has been there as long as I've been in Memphis I use to go here after getting off the bus they staff is super friendly and the food is amazing.
We came in hoping to get something very simple. We saw a simple lunch item for $5.75. So we ordered two. Then we noticed we were charged $1.00 extra per plate for a total of $2.00 extra. The reason given was that it was Sunday! I am getting sick of this type of crap! It's not like they don't get tons of business on a Sunday. But, they have penalize you for ordering a LUNCH? We didn't get anything extra either for the extra charge. Customers should have the option to order less if they want. Especially without penalty. The food was quite shit for the price too. You could go to Chipotle and eat for two for the same price. Whether Chipotle is real Mexican or not it is always better than this option. El Mezcal is not authentic Mexican, it is authentic shit with a penalty charge on Sunday.
El Mezcal has been in Memphis nearly 30 years; from its original restaurant on South Perkins to the one now on Perkins near Laurelwood, this location is the Best! You can find El Mez all over town and they're all good. Check out the one at Trinity Commons for Taco Tuesday: 99 cent tacos! Great family staff gives excellent service. You gotta love it!
